On March 12th, the seventh grade personal finance class of Yeshiva K’tana of Waterbury visited Waterbury City Hall for a special behind-the-scenes learning experience.
During the visit, the students heard presentations from Mayor Paul K. Pernerewski, Jr., Joe Geary (Chief of Staff), Michael LeBlanc (Director of Finance), and Sarah Geary (Manager of Budget Development and Oversight). The officials spoke with the boys about understanding budgeting—particularly how a city budget works—and explained what goes on behind the scenes to keep a city operating.
The students had the opportunity to learn how financial decisions are made in municipal government and how budgeting affects everyday city services.
One of the presenters remarked, “You have an impressive group of boys.”
