The preschool Word of the Week (WOW) program is in full swing! Each preschool grade has a weekly Word of the Week assembly during which Morah Brocha teaches the new word of the week as well as reviewswords that were already covered. The assembly begins with a song that introduces the new Word-of-the-Week. Each Word-of-the-Week that the children learn is chosen with a focus on teaching polite speech as well as targeted social skills. The children are encouraged to use these words throughout the week, and are rewarded with stickers and verbal praise. Some of the words of the week that have been taught are “Good morning,” “Goodbye,” “Have a nice day,” “Please can you pass,” “Excuse me,” “Can I play with you,” “Thank you,” “You’re welcome,” “Please can you help me,” and “Gezuntheit.”
